NEP has completed the construction and furnishing of its new data center at MediaPark. It is not only equipped with the usual IT and storage equipment, but is also suitable for broadcast installations. A 700 m2 space accommodates over three hundred 19" racks.
NEP's services are facilitated in the Netherlands from its own modern data centers, which form the core of the media technology company. The entire service is powered by technology and equipment centralised in the data center, enabling services such as Centralized Production, post-production, Augmented Reality, OTT content distribution and playout services. The success of these services and the desire to play an increasing role in streaming and Centralized Production generated a growing demand for additional capacity in the data center at NEP.
Bakker: "Every possible risk that the technical installations of the data centers need to be able to handle automatically has been considered. This includes the new connection to the 10 kV high-voltage grid of the Netherlands with a capacity of almost 3 Megawatts and NEP's redundant emergency power and cooling installations. We cannot afford any downtime, so we aim for one hundred percent uptime. Moreover, we do not rely on single equipment throughout the chain. We are building a data center that, in essence, cannot fail."
The data center is being set up in various phases, with over three hundred new 19” racks set to be installed. These new racks will supplement the existing three hundred racks already in use by NEP in the Netherlands for its national and international managed services.
